New Policy Links Hotel Booking to Visa Issuance for Umrah Pilgrims
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has introduced a significant update to the Umrah visa process. Starting June 10, 2025, all international pilgrims seeking to perform Umrah must secure and verify their hotel accommodation through the official Nusuk Masar digital platform before their visa application can be approved.
The measure is designed to streamline travel procedures, prevent fraud, and enhance the overall experience for millions of pilgrims visiting the Kingdom each year.
How the New Hotel Booking Requirement Works
Under the updated guidelines, Umrah service providers — including companies, authorized agents, and local establishments — must arrange accommodation exclusively with hotels approved by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism.
Bookings are required to be electronically verified and uploaded to the Nusuk Masar system prior to visa issuance. Pilgrims who do not meet this requirement risk having their visa application rejected.
The government’s aim is to ensure that all visitors stay in licensed, high-quality hotels that meet safety and hospitality standards.
